“My purpose, my whole life, had been to love him and be with him, to make him happy. I didn’t want to cause any unhappiness now—in that way, I decided it was probably better than he wasn’t here to see this, though I missed him so much at that moment the ache of it was as bad as the strange pains in my belly.” ― W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose

Musing Monday 10/1/18

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

I took a few weeks off from posting Musing Monday to make a choice on what I wanted to do with it. I have also been super busy, so it was a good time to let it breath as it were. For the moment I want to keep going with Musing Monday and I hope that everyone still enjoys it.

This week’s random question: Do you ever use reading to procrastinate?

I am totally guilty of this one, especially lately. When I know I have to do something I might not really want to do I find it easier to get lost in one of my books. I did a lot of it over the weekend, I really should have been working on my shop website and setting a better balanced schedule for my never ending to do list, lol. So rather than deal with it, I read. Could be worse, right? Thankfully, it wasn’t anything so important I made big problems for myself by allowing myself a happy procrastinate land.

I hope everyone is having a good week. I am all tucked back into being back in my Home state for a visit. It has been a bit up and down, but there is always a book to lift one’s spirits. I treated myself to a small bit of shopping at good ole Half Price books, seems I have rather missed particularular used book shop.

“Before, I was brazen, life was a new frontier waiting to be conquered. I had high hopes for this adventure called freedom. Almost the way you feel when you get your first apartment and you tell your parents “so long.” The high comes crashing down as soon as you realize there’s nobody around to scold or reward. With it comes the realization that the people you were so desperately trying to get away from are the ones who gave you definition and character, a daughter, a friend, a sister.”

“Clint. She felt it before she’d met him, years before. The feeling of being trapped in a hole. No growth, no enhancement. Being trapped in this one place and unable to move. It seemed like such a simple plan in the beginning. First high school, then college, then career, then husband and children.” ― Trisha R. Thomas, Nappily Ever After

Happy Labor Day. I hope everyone is having a fantastic day, sometimes Monday can be alright if it is a holiday right? LOL

I don’t have a random question this week for musing, but I do have a question. Do you still want to see Musing Monday going on? As I mentioned last week I feel as if I have perhaps not been doing as well as the OG handler of musing Monday, there just does not seem to be to much participation.

Random Question: If you could change one thing about the way book readers can be viewed by society in general, what would it be?

I feel like I am letting the musings get a little deep the last few weeks, but I am playing around a bit to see what kind of musings everyone prefers. It seems like this meme is dying a bit and I feel bad about it, like I am letting the OG musing Monday down. I’ll keep on trying though.

If I could change one thing about how society currently looks at readers honestly, it would be that it is seen as a bit odd to regularly read these days. Once upon a time reading was the normal way of things. It makes me sad when people are surprised to find out I read regularly, it isn’t the blog part that seems to be a surprise these days but the actual reading. The amount of people I hear say, “Oh, I haven’t read a book since high school” just makes me sad. Reading to me is like breathing and it is so enriching, I feel sad that so many people are missing out on that.
