Ambrosia’s little note:

Happy Teaser Tuesday everyone! As always I hope I find you well this Tuesday and enjoying your reads. I am home from my SIT huzzah. There was some drama with the planes for Abuela’s mom, but we made it work.I am off to a Daughtry concert in Vegas on Saturday, so wish me luck on that drive.

This weeks Teaser..

Everyone has some kind of debt. Such is life. Debts and liabilities, obligations, gratitude, payments, doing something for someone. Or perhaps for ourselves? For in fact we are always paying ourselves back and not someone else. Each time we are indebted we pay off the debt to ourselves. In each of us lies a creditor and a debtor at once and the art is for the reckoning to tally inside us. We enter the world as a minute part of the life we are given, and from then on we are ever paying off debts, To ourselves. For ourselves. In order for the final reckoning to tally.

Andrzej Sapkowski, Baptism of Fire

Ambrosia’s little note:

Happy Teaser Tuesday everyone! As always I hope I find you well this Tuesday and enjoying your reads! Hello November and hello sort of fall weather in Tucson. Cool enough in the mornings and some evenings to need a hoodie. I adore hoodie season and it is so short here compared to Minnesota, LOL. Alas it is here and I am very grateful for the cooler temps.

Now onto this week’s teaser. A re-read for me this week as it has been more then 2 decades since I picked these up and the new movie is great. *feels old now*

Ambrosia’s little note:

Happy Teaser Tuesday everyone! As always I hope I find you well this Tuesday and enjoying your reads! Short and sweet without an updated teaser for me this week (sorry) gave myself a little bit of heat stroke helping someone trap a cat that needed serious medical help in the 114 weather we have here. Worth it though got kitty to the vet and he’s gonna be ok.

Anyways, onto this week’s Teaser:

Comedy of errors I tell you. My quote is the same this week as last because I have been having some issues getting my laptop to load so I am posting this mobile. I haven’t had a chance to grab my read and I hope this goes through from my phone! I tell ya it’s like a series of unfortunate events here lately 😂

Book Review: The Book of Deacon (The Book of Deacon #1) by Joseph R. Lallo

The tale of Myranda Celeste, a young woman orphaned by a century long war, and her chance discovery of a fallen soldier’s priceless cargo. The find will change her life, sending her on an adventure of soldiers and rebels, wizards and warriors, and beasts both noble and monstrous. Each step will bring her closer to the truth of her potential, of the war, and of the fate of her world.

This is one of those books that I just really am not sure what I should say about it. The book was not bad by any means, but it also was not what I would call a good book. Overall for me this one just came up as a bit meh and forgettable, sorry if that sounds a little bit harsh but there we have it.

The first chapters of this book were very boring to me. There were many times in fact that I wanted to just delete it from my device and not worry about it any further. I am glad that I didn’t do that as I really am not a big fan of DNF but it does happen. This is a book that I am glad I finished, but beyond that I really just could not feel a connection with any of the characters. It just feels as if none of them really fully formed enough for me to like them or “feel them”. There were a great many errors in the book which does tend to happen a lot with self published work. I try not to judge authors for that because I know I don’t write perfectly and it is incredibly brave to put your work out there. However, in this instance it was bad enough for me that it began to interfere with reading the book. Myranda was not the character I hoped she would be, I just wanted to tell her to get with the program and light a fire under her butt.

So for me, I wouldn’t say to read it, but I also wouldn’t tell you not to read it, maybe you will like it better than I did. Perhaps characters get better fleshed out in later books, I am not sure I will carry on past this one to find out.

Pardon the dust

Please pardon the dust around the blog as I work on getting the new theme completely installed. It is a wonderful theme and I am very excited to be taking this next step forward in my book blogging adventure! It is a little scary leaving behind Fire & Ice, but I feel like the same was right.

So welcome, have a look around and mind any dusty areas.
