“Charlotte!” In the mad crush of the Queen’s drawing room Lady Uppington maneuvered her hoops expertly around a broad skirt and protruding sword to embrace Charlotte.”Your Grandmother told me you were at court.” Charlotte smiled shyly at her best friends Mother. “I’m waiting on the Queen,” she said unnecessarily. pg. 158 Temptation of the Night Jasmine by Lauren Willig

I blogged about ____ this past week

Random weekly question: What has been your most favorite book, so far, this year? Why?

This is a tough one because I have been doing a lot of re-reading this year for various reasons. Research for work and enjoyment being the biggest two reasons. If I enjoy a book well enough to re-read it even for work that means it is in one of my favorite piles already. If I picked just one I will go with The Help which I just finished recently. I have loved the movie since it came out but it was one of the few books that I read after I saw the movie. You is smart, you is kind and you is important.

Random question: What do you do when you finish a book? Do you immediately start another one?

Most often yes I do indeed start a new book once I finish one. However, lately I will only end up reading a page or two then set it aside so I can do some crochet work. The only way this does not apply is if I am listening on Audio. The last two years I have blazed through the Dresden series on audio while crocheting and I do not regret it. I love spending time with Dresden!

New Year new challenges

I admit the end of the year got very busy for me. So I did not even go through and tally how I did on my challenges for last year. Bottom line is I know I did not complete some but when prepping for my 2016 I saw I did complete more then I first thought. I am okay with that. I still read quite a bit and I had other things that I got done. I did not get many reviews written though so THAT is something that I wish to be better at. So that will be my biggest goal for 2016 to make sure my reviews for the books I have read are written. I also plan on back tracking for the 2015 books that need to be reviewed.

Without further waiting however, here are my challenges for 2016 hopefully I do better on them this year.

**The website for this one has not updated yet I hope it will soon or I may cut it and add to my other Historical challenge*

As always you can see my Book Challenges on the Page for the . Happy 2016 everyone!

See you in 2016

Alas I have to admit this has been another year where my reading has not gone as well as I planned it too. It has been a year of up and down and while I have read quite a lot I have not really completed most of my challenges. I have not posted as many reviews as I had hoped or wished either.

However, as I said at the out start of this while I wanted to do challenges I knew I would be very busy with some big changes in life and may not complete them. So I have accepted that! With that said I am going to be putting this blog on hiatus until just after New year. With this the first day of December I still have a great deal of work to do for Christmas.

I make most of my gifts by hand and do so with a great deal of love and attention to detail. I started late this year so it means I am behind and taking time out to catch up on my reviews here is just something that can wait. So I shall see my readers of this blog in 2016! I will do my challenge round up then and I will catch up on reviews. As well of course as getting signed up for the 2016 challenges. Yes I do plan on trying again!

I will find balance between work, family life and reading one of these days! I shall!

Sorry I have no teaser this week to much else on my plate. Did you know there is only 6 weeks til Christmas? 6 weeks to finish my presents oh joy. I am debating if I should use an already made shawl as one present……….it isn’t the usual colors I would give to this person but I think she might like it anyways.

Anyways in place of a teaser for me..I have a reminder to anyone who may see this:

Booking Through Thursday 11/12/15

This one is Hosted at the Booking through Thursday Blog.

What book (or books) from your childhood do you think about most often? That had the most effect on your life?

Gads, I read so many books when I was younger so it is hard to remember them all. With that said, there are some that were indeed standing out for me. The first being the Three Billy Goats Gruff. This was the very first book I can remember reading and the copy I had was very old at the time I got it. I think it was my Great Grandma Doris’s copy, but I could be wrong about that. It is a story I still love today.

Next would have to be Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer of course. These were the first books that I can fully remember wanting to crawl inside and live in the world for a time. The adventures and the history I just loved it! Oh yes, sure some course language and stuff that is still not polite to say today but the stories were wonderful. On top of that to those who poo poo about the language, yes, it is bad, however, Huck Finn goes against the general mind set of the day with Jim. He loves Jim, Jim is his friend so there.

Next up would be the entire Black Stallion series for me. Another set of books that I wanted to crawl inside of because I wanted to have The Black! I also wanted to have Flame! Now that I am writing about it, I want to read the series again, I can see my first 2016 challenge for myself on the horizon! The Black Stallion series truly cemented my deep love of the Arabian horse. They are such stunning animals and will always be my favorite.

Last but not least I will say Trinity. I know I have mentioned it before and I know I just re-read it again recently there is a reason for that. This was my first very adult very graphic novel and it will stay with me forever. The struggle that goes on in Trinity, the nitty gritty detail of the Irish trying to fight for survival and freedom. It is just an emotional experience. It was not the blood and gore that stuck with me, but the emotion and feeling, the struggle. Really plucked something inside of me.

So there you have my BTT answer hope it did not bore you.

Random weekly question: Do you review books? If so, who do you review for? If not, was it by choice? Why?

Well this is a little bit of a already answered question given the fact that I am answering it on a book review blog. So yes I do write reviews for my books and I do them for a few places, I of course do them here on my own blog and I have also done them for a place called Readers Favorite. Yes it was a choice that I made simply because I enjoy book reviews. When I first started this blog I thought it would be a nice way to challenge myself in my reading and keep track of my reading. Over the years I may have failed at some of my challenges (likely happening again this year) but I always enjoy writing the reviews and doing the weekly Meme’s here on the blog. So overall I am happy that I decided to begin book reviews.

Guitar Strings

Being someone who has several members of family and friends who play guitar I am always keeping my eyes peeled for items I can buy them for Christmas (which is coming up fast!) and other gift giving days. I have found personally one of the best things to give a guitar player is strings because that is something they are always going to need.

The trouble for those who do not know much about music can come when they are trying to decide what kind of strings to get. I have had good luck with getting 11 guage for most of my guitar playing family and friends but try to be a little snoopy if you have to in finding the right kind for them. If you don’t want to go through the trouble of finding out what kind of strings they use go for picks, guitar players also need picks all the time.
