Musing Monday 9/11/17

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: Do you plan a reading list while on vacation?

Since I had a mini vacation over the weekend I thought this question fit. It was literally just a few days 2 hours from home to see David Cook and Idina Menzel. Not a huge deal, but GREAT fun to me! I admit that I did more crochet than reading on this trip. That being said, there have been lots of trips where I just bring books, books and more books. I simply adore reading on vacation. You have time, you’re relaxed and it tends to be filled with nice long stretches of time to sit and dive into the world of the book. How about you guys?

Let us also take a moment of silence and remembrance for this day.

  1. I must admit that I probably get to read less when we are away than at any other time. Neither of us are good at just sitting around doing nothing and we are usually out and about exploring the area and places of interest nearby.

I can’t do anything when I am travelling, as bending my head for just a few minutes can make me feel quite ill (apparently it is all a matter of inner ear balance).

Thanks for sharing your post and just like yourselves over there, almost every one of us here in the UK can remember exactly what we were doing this day 16 years ago when the news broke.

Thinking of everyone involved and remembering.

    1. Not being good at sitting still and doing nothing is something I am not very good at myself. Site seeing can be so fun too! I know I got no reading and no crochet done on a larger trip a few years back to England. Yet the smaller trips I have been taking to Phoenix I tend to stay inside….its to hot lol.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on this post and remembering. I do think so many people think of 9/11 as just an American thing but it really did have an impact on the whole world. I always try to make sure to remember all of those lost or hurt no matter where they are from. It still feels weird to me anytime I see the New York skyline as it is today.

  2. I bring both my crochet and books on vacation also. This summer on vacation I breezed through vintage Harlequin romance.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years. The stories of bravery that people showed on that day, risking themselves to save others were so incredibly moving and remind us of the good there is in the world.

    1. That day really was the best and worst of times wasn’t it? Such a horrible horrible thing to happen, but watching as we all came together across the world. No matter if it was to help people out, to help injured, to search..or just to be a comfort it was a good reminder that if we come together in love and goodness we can get things done.

    1. Ah always fun to find another crocheter! Currently I am working on a pretty shell and cluster scarf with some knit picks chroma 🙂 I really should finish up the huge stack of WIP’s I have but…..this scarf pattern was calling my name lol.
