Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about library etiquette…

For the regular library patrons among us: do you have your own idea of what constitutes proper library etiquette? Is there anything you always try to do? Anything you hate when others do?

It has been a very long time since I was at the library. But I used to go all the time when I was younger, or even really up until about a year ago. My biggest pet peeve is people eating in the library. It is allowed at my library but really it bothers me. Nothing is ickier than picking up a book or watching someone with a book and they are getting cheeto orange all over it. Ick.

I also dislike the noise levels some people think are okay. The library is supposed to be a nice and relaxed place. Not a place with running screaming kids, and noisy chatty cell phones. OH my goodness yes Pet peeve CELL PHONE USE IN THE LIBRARY. You seriously don’t need to have it attached to you ALL THE TIME.

Okay…I have said my piece for the muse.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about reading/blogging during the holidays…

How does your reading (or your blogging) fare in the holiday months? Do you read more or less? Do you have to actively make time to read?

Well personally my time around the holidays doesn’t change much. Mostly because since the kids live with their mom and not with us we don’t do any of that. And my family this year…well not so much into the holidays. So I will be busy on Christmas Eve and Christmas day but otherwise not so much. So my time will go into working on finishing these challenges. I am doing pretty good so I am excited.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about your bookshelf…

Tomorrow I have my first teaching job (yes, I’m sharing my non-book bloggy news!) and it’s inspired today’s Musing Monday.

What books did you read while in school? Were there any that you particular liked, or even hated? Did any become lifelong favourites?

One of my favorite books reading in school was the Giver it has become a life long favorite and there is just something about it that stays with you. There were a lot of books I didn’t like but honestly I can’t recall the names. Because generally if I don’t like it I don’t remember it. But the classics Shakespeare and anything by Jane Austen were always good reads. The Giver however is one I will never forget.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about your bookshelf…

With the holiday season now upon us, have you left any hint – subtle or otherwise – for books family and friends might buy you for Christmas? Do you like to receive books, or do you prefer certificates so you can choose your own?

I love to get books if there are some that I know I want. Otherwise I am more than happy to get a gift certificate for my favorite book shop. Not everyone in my family is as supportive of my reading habit as others. But my Mom and Hubby know well enough that when in doubt get the book stuff. I haven’t dropped any hints this year unless you count emailing my Amazon wish list oh wait that might be a not so subtle hint. Ha ha.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about your bookshelf…

Does your house have a communal bookshelf? If not, is your bookshelf centrally located so everyone has access to it?

I am the only one in the house who really reads. That being said my book room and my overflow shelves can be reached by the hubby. He has a few books on the shelves but otherwise it’s all me. Anyone who comes over is welcome to have access to the books. I am happy to share reading with anyone and everyone!

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about social reading…

How much of your reading do you share with others (outside of blogging?) Do you belong to a book or library club? Do you trade books with friends? Do you tell others what you’re reading?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your opinion in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks.

I do share my reading. I belong to two book groups from Paperback Swap, and even though I Haven’t been able to meet with them lately because of my health I do belong. I have looked for book clubs to join locally but have not yet found any of those. Although I have also looked into some other online ones be-sides Paperback swap.

I own one book of the month club myself and plan on promoting it more soon (as soon as I can anyways) and I Have considered making it into a blog, but I am not sure. It’s still in the thinking process. I want it to be interactive. So maybe a message board that works with the email group would be better than a blog. But blogs are so fun.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about reading trends…

Do you find yourself forming trends in your reading? Is this a conscious act, influenced by either your own interests or current publishing fads?

I do not consciously read in trends, but I find lately I do seem more likely to read one genre for a while and than switch over. Although in the last several months my reading has been slow I think its because I havent felt well. I am hoping once my stint with Renn fest is done I will focus on my books again. I have fallen behind on my goal for the year. But over all I am happy. I have read a lot more than some people do. I don’t go with publishing fad’s at all. But if an author I like I will go on and buy the new release.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about book series…

Do you prefer to read stand-alone books, or books in series? Do you stick with a series the whole way through or stop after the first instalment? Are there any particular series you enjoy?(question courtesy of Elena)

Color me a dork I missed this yesterday because I was zapped from the weekend. I don’t have any preferance on series or stand alone I will read either. But if I enjoy the first book in a series I will read the next and so on. Right now I am enjoying the Pink Carnation series, and the Naked Nobility.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about movies …

How do you react to movies made of your favourite books (or even not-so-favourite books)? Do you look forward to seeing them, or avoid them? Do you like to have read the book before seeing the movie?

Ah this is a great one to talk about. When a movie comes out about a book I know I admit I get a bit excited. Although if it’s a book I really like I do worry a bit about it. Because you know logically they can’t fit it all in. it’s just impossible to fit all the details and every part from a book into a movie. Sometimes I am happy with the movie and sometimes I am disappointed. Confessions of a Shopaholic was great, even if I was irritated they set it in NYC instead of London. But over all I liked it. But I was very disappointed with The Other Boleyn Girl. I know they couldn’t fit it all in, but I felt they jumped around way to much. But I most defiantly need to read books before I see the movies. It’s why I am so behind on watching the Harry Potter movies.

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about publishing houses …

Do you have a favorite publishing house — one that puts out books that you constantly find yourself wanting to read? If so, who? And, what books have they published that you’ve loved? (question courtesy of MizB)

That is a hard one, I don’t really look at publishing houses so much as I do authors. However, Bethany House has a few authors I like. That is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
