Book Review: Peace Talks (The Dresden Files #16) by Jim Butcher

LONHARRY DRESDEN IS BACK AND READY FOR ACTION, in the new entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files.

When the Supernatural nations of the world meet up to negotiate an end to ongoing hostilities, Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard, joins the White Council’s security team to make sure the talks stay civil. But can he succeed, when dark political manipulations threaten the very existence of Chicago–and all he holds dear?

My Thoughts:

Well where do I even begin. It was a long wait for Peace Talks, but it was well worth the wait! Once again Harry Dresden finds himself in a mess of trouble. Even more worrisome (for Harry) is that his Brother is in a lot of trouble too. He stands accused of doing something very awful and in all honesty, not very in character for Thomas.

I mean are we really shocked that Harry is in the weeds again? Of course we are not. It is Harry. Are we surprised he is up to his neck in duties as he bounces around while trying to get a Peace summit between all the supernatural beings going on? Once again..of course we aren’t. Are we surprised when Maab gets yeeted through a wall? OF COURSE WE ARE.

Maab has long been one of the big powerful “scary” types in this series, so the seeing her just get smacked through a wall with little more then  a swat is equal parts funny and scary. Things just get even worse from there. I want to say so much more, but I really don’t want to give away to many spoilers and it would be very easy to do with this book.

The one spot of this long awaited book that I didn’t like was the HUGE cliff hanger it ended on. Thankfully the wait for battle ground was only a few months.
