Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: Do you like book clubs or not?

I have for many years looked at ways to get myself out of my anxiety a bit more and find more friends. Finding friends with a common interest always seemed like a great plan, so of course book clubs came to mind right? When I was still home in Minnesota I was happy to be a member of the PBS local chapters. A book club of sorts but there was not required reading for meet ups, we just shared what we were currently reading and other things both book and life related. Sadly when I left Minnesota I lost that core group of people and have not found another local chapter to join since.

I have looked at other book clubs through various places like meetup and the library. The biggest problem I seem to have is when I look at past or current reads most of the groups arent reading something I would normally be drawn too. Now that isn’t to say I won’t give new books a chance but when it is month after month I get worried. I don’t consider myself a super picky reader but do have my genres that I feel most comfortable in. So far it is that which has kept me from joining any groups again. Maybe I am being to narrow minded. So how about you? Do you like book clubs or do you feel a bit scared off by the general choices in reading in them?

I once belonged to a great book club but then we moved. I’ve since tried to start one and while it was fun it fizzled out. So while I’d love to be a part of one it seems to be a hit and miss thing for me. My musing is unrelated to book clubs but here it is for the week: http://sheeryhall.blogspot.com/2017/09/musing-monday-tessa-dare.html

    Have a lovely week!

I like the idea of book clubs, but I find it hard to commit. Here is my post for this week:
