Random Question:Who are the key players in your current book? (or current themes, if nonfiction)

I am slow with the current book because I am doing a lot. It is an enjoyable book. There are really two kinds of characters in this book humans and vampires. I know that sounds so basic but that is how it goes. There are also doctors and nerds within those categories themselves. I really think it is a lot of fun watching them interact. I get the feeling there is an evil character I don’t know yet. I kind of like the bad guys so I am looking forward to that rebel

Random Question: Can you recall a time when you weren’t an avid reader?

No, I really can’t recall a time. Yes lately I have not been reading as much as I used too, but I still try and I still desire it. Given that I still consider myself an avid reader. I personally think once you are an avid reader you always are, unless you hit a point in your life where you just don’t want to read anymore. I have never heard to many people who have just decided to do that though. I guess once you get used to living many lives you want to continue to live them. I for one enjoy living as many lives as I can, jumping into stories, lives feeling connected with characters. Which is why even when I am focused on crochet I consider myself an avid reader, I think I will eventually find the balance I seek.

Random Question: What is your worst habit as a reader?

I have to say my worst habit as a reader has to be keeping up on my blog LOL. Beyond that I will say that my other bad habit is that I am not good at keeping things at a balance. I have not been reading as much as I should be because I have been doing so much else. I am slowly getting that balance back and reading more so at least I am slowly managing to make this it better, but it is a bad habit.

Passing on this weeks random question and going to talk a bit about the books I have been reading. In at attempt to get myself out of the reading rut (just want to be crocheting as usual oi ) I have been doing some Young Adult reading again. right now I am working on the Heartland series, as I have enjoyed the TV show. So far so good, the books are lovely too.

Random question: What obscure book do you think should be turned into a movie?

Hmm this is a tough one because there are a lot of books that are movies and people don’t know about it. I think for myself on this musing Monday I would say the Pink Carnation series. Now i know they are not that obscure but they have never hit the big fame many think of when they think of movies. I think the back and forth between the history and the modern day would be a lot of fun.

Name a favorite book you’d take to the beach: People are going to laugh but I would take Caesar’s Gallic Wars as written by himself. I enjoy reading Caesar’s papers and I will always say he was murdered wrongly. Caesar truly wanted to do what was best for the people of Rome, he was a brilliant man. Besides it is fun to read war stories on the beach because you can build forts and the like. 😉

I am having so much trouble with my reading goals this year again. I feel bad about it but I am trying not to because reading is supposed to be fun. I still love books, I adore them and I want to read but my time gets taken up by other things. Between a hectic work schedule, busy home life and the need to crochet for some zen time. I am sure at some point I will take more advantage of my kindle reading to me more then I could at least read more while I crochet. I think part of the problem is I don’t like the robotic voice my kindle reads to me in. I should see if perhaps one of the new kindles has a better text to speech option. That might help.

Thanks to something on Facebook I decided to pick up an old favorite book. It was the top book the year I was born (1983 goodness I feel old) and I have to say I am happy to pick it up again.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What’s your most favorite “chunky” book? (over 500 pages)

This is a tough one for me because I like a lot of “chunky” books. From classics to more modern chunkers. I think if I had to pick one right this second it would be Caesars women. It is the 4th book in the Masters of Rome series and a very good one.

“His victories were legend — in battle and bedchamber alike. Love was a political weapon he wielded cunningly and ruthlessly in his private war against enemies in the forum. Genius, general, patrician, Gaius Julius Caesar was history. His wives bought him influence. He sacrificed his beloved daughter on the alter of ambition. He burned for the cold-hearted mistress he could never dare trust. Caesar’s women all knew — and feared — his power. He adored them, used them, destroyed them on his irresistible rise to prominence. And one of them would seal his fate.”

Now I want to read it again, lol but I will probably read Antony & Cleopatra first..which is another huge book.
