R.I.P Sweet Girl

Sweet Maia Sleeping with Me.

Several years ago on a fatefull snowy winter night I was told about a cat. Her name at the time was Shania, and she had chronic bowel problems and her owner at that time was going to kill her because she was tired of dealing with the “problem.” Never one to let that happen I took myself out there and there she was (more details of course but this post is not about those) sweet little all black girl. She had been declawed (a practice I abhor.) spayed (good) and was very underweight. At 3 years old Maia only weighed about 3lbs. And yes indeed she had the chronic stinky bowel issue. Never the less I packed her up took her home and never looked back She became my little Maia girl.

When I brought her home that Night the Hubby said “She looks like Oscar the grouch” and bless her heard she did. But he also said “you will be a beautiful cat when we get you straightened out” and that she was. A change in diet and some good probiotics later Maia was fine,nd gained some weight though she was always a small girl she would contiune to have bouts of tummy issues because asmuch as we wanted her to remain on a wet food diet Maia was a kibble addict.

Sadly this morning at 5:15am my sweet girl went peacefully across the rainbow bridge. I am happy she was peacefull. I am happy we gave her the years we did and how much she brought into my life. Maia was a sweetheart to everyone, even sleeping all day (and night too) with a house guest who came to visit twice. My life will not be the same without her. I with the way she would march up to me and “Scream” at me when she wanted love. How she would sleep in the most annoying places like on my letter writing box and yet I loved her for it and I would never move her. I love you Maia. Thank you for being my Angel I shall see you again someday across the rainbowbridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

I feel like a silly reader

I love the Sooke Stackhouse books and I was happy reading the second book (honest) but for whatever attention span reason I just couldn’t stick with it right now. SO I picked up The Black Stallion for a little bit while sorting books (one of my favorite series since I was a kid) and guess what? You guessed it I have now plowed through several books in the series again, lol. Guess some childhood favorites never go away.

A tingling of a plan…

I was reading the fantastic J.Kaye’s book blog this morning (can’t sleep again of course) and I was struck with an idea. Firs of all I have to note J.Kaye is much more organized than me. And secondly she is doing a wonderful novel writing project. 365 Day’s of Novel writing.

Most of you who read the blog here know I am a voracious reader. What you might not know is I am a writer too. And not just the little trying to make ends meat because I am sick articles and advertisements either. Stories, oh nothing novel length yet, (not for lack of ideas honestly I just can’t seem to sort them into novel form yet.). But I used to write Fan Fiction and Short Stories. Mostly now however when I do write I am doing so nightly (every night just about without fail) partner writing Role Play. Me and my writing buddy (who’s name I shall not out) have been doing so for several years now on a variety of topics! I wouldn’t miss doing it with her for the world. I enjoy it immensely. I am thinking I should get my writing chops out again (thank you J.Kaye for the inspiration!) and start doing some short stories.

What do you my readers think? Do you think it is a good idea? Or a Bad idea? There will of course have to be a blog (I am a blog writing addict and I can fully admit it! I also like doing new designs for myself Gluttonous of me I know.). I am thinking of perhaps having myself write one short story a week, or bi-weekly. I will blog about the progress and than post the story in the blog. It may not be a fully final copy more like a rough (depending on if I go weekly or bi-weekly) but it will be a story. My biggest sticking point for the blog right now is what I should name it. I was thinking something to go with my Pen Name of Ambrosia Jefferson (didn’t you know that’s not my real name. *hehe*). I am drawing a blank currently, so I ask you my readers (if you are still reading this LONG post by now) what are your suggestions? Give me some good ones! If I get some good name ideas today I might even toss out a book as a present/giveaway/ reward. Goodness knows I have enough sitting around (see here for that comment on all the little book piles sitting around.)

And just for fun here is the Wikipedia opening statement on Ambrosia:

In ancient Greek mythology, ambrosia (Greek: ἀμβροσία) is sometimes the food, sometimes the drink, of the gods, often depicted as conferring ageless immortality upon whoever consumes it. It was brought to the gods in Olympus by doves (Odyssey xii.62), so may have been thought of in the Homeric tradition as a kind of divine exhalation of the Earth.
Ambrosia is very closely related to the gods’ other form of sustenance, nectar. The two terms may not have originally been distinguished;[1] though in Homer’s poems nectar is usually the drink and ambrosia the food of the gods; it was with ambrosia Hera “cleansed all defilement from her lovely flesh” (Iliad xiv.170), and with ambrosia Athena prepared Penelope in her sleep (Odyssey xviii.188ff) so that when she appeared for the final time before her suitors, the effect of the years had been stripped away and they were inflamed at the sight of her. On the other hand, in Alcman, nectar is the food, and in Sappho (fragment 45) and Anaxandrides, ambrosia is the drink.[2] When a character in Aristophanes’ Knights says, “I dreamed the goddess poured ambrosia over your head— out of a ladle”, the homely and realistic ladle brings the ineffable moment to ground with a thump.
Both nectar and ambrosia are fragrant, and may be used as perfume: in the Odyssey (iv.444-46) Menelaus and his men are disguised as seals in untanned seal skins, “and the deadly smell of the seal skins vexed us sore; but the goddess saved us; she brought ambrosia and put it under our nostrils.” Homer speaks of ambrosial raiment, ambrosial locks of hair, even the gods’ ambrosial sandals.
Among later writers, ambrosia has been so often used with generic meanings of “delightful liquid” that such late writers as Athenaeus, Paulus and Dioscurides employ it as a technical terms in contexts of cookery,[3] medicine[4] and botany.[5]Additionally, some modern ethnomycologists, such as Danny Staples, identify ambrosia with the untameable hallucinogenic mushroom Amanita muscaria: “it was the food of the gods, their ambrosia, and nectar was the pressed sap of its juices”, Staples asserts.

New Feature

I have added a new feature to the side of the blog. It is an Ask me anything feature, through forumspring. My friend Sara over at TinyandAnnoying started doing this, and I just followed suit because I thought it was fun. So go ahead and head over and ask me anything. You can be Anonymous.

That is a new one..

Oh the things you find in books that you get from trading sites. I just have to share because well I am a little stunned at this one. Oh now I have found receipts and other like things before in my books, and of course sometimes the old PBS print off for a book that’s traveled around a bit. But last night while I was reading My Sisters keeper, which I ordered off PBS I found a Pap smear slip. That has to top the cake for my weird finds. Now it (thankfully) didn’t hold any personal information. But it had a date and in BIG letters “this is your Pap Smear slip.” so I guess this person can check their results online. How weird is that?

A very heartfelt Thank You.

I just have to take a moment to say how much I love my book friends. I want to give a big shout out to my friend Dough Girl (she knows who she is by this nickname) and thank her for the wonderful card. It truly made my month, and will help me with Christmas. It made me cry but it was a good cry, a happy cry. You will be getting a PM from me as well. But I just needed to do a shout out for the kindness. And the card is beautiful; it will be going into my scrapbook one of my friends gave me.

What Kind of Book are you?

Saw this on another blog and thought it might be fun.

You believe there’s always a humorous side to everything. And your sense of humor ranges from upbeat to very dark.

You are outrageous and very honest. You’re often the only one willing to say what everyone else is thinking.

You are witty and verbally talented. You like to play with words and say things in interesting ways.

I am still sick but I am getting off the pity pot. I miss my books. I really do, I know I will not complete my main challenge this year. But that’s okay this was my first year for challenges, So I will call this the trial year. Trial and error. I gave it a good shot right? So here we go again. I am currently beginning work on The Blue Bloods Novel Revelations. And than up next? I am probably going to re-read Twilight and New Moon in prep for the Movie release.
