Musing Monday 9/18/17

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEKS RANDOM QUESTION: Do you like something playing in the background while reading?

First I want to just thank everyone who comes to my blog and takes part in Musing Monday & Teaser Tuesday. I know I have not always been active in replying (and I am making a vow today to get better at that!) but I do read every comment that comes through and I do visit the links left. I must confess that it is my social anxiety that has kept me from interacting as much as I want too. It has been pretty bad lately, tends to be worse when there are other stressors going on. It is not an excuse of course but I felt that I should share that is what causes it, I feel that is the first step to doing better and working through that social anxiety because all of you are wonderful and of course we all have at least one thing in common a love of books!

Now, with the mushy stuff out of the way a reply to last weeks muse gave me the inspiration for this one. Unless you are listening to an audio or have kindle reading to you, reading a book generally requires that you sit in one spot and only do that right? For some reason I feel like having the TV on in the background or some music makes it less “lazy”. I don’t know why that works for my brain but I guess it makes me feel more like I am multi tasking when I have something going on in the background. Yet I know people who much prefer to have silence when they read. So which do you prefer?

    1. Thank you so much. That really means a lot, I am sad so many others have anxiety as well but it is nice to know your not alone. Ah I am feeling some Doctor who happiness, lol.

    1. Social Anxiety really can be tough. I didn’t used to be this bad, more just the regular introvert things. Sadly over the years of stuff with the ex the anxiety got worse, but I am trying to not let it rule my life.

    1. Also I totally feel you on the social anxiety, it’s one of my biggest problems too and it is the main reason I myself am not more active in the blogging community. So I totally get you!

      1. Thank you. I am glad you have found some way to socialize with bloggers too. I am working on it and I know its the first step towards people more too. Haha most days I would just rather interact with my fur kids.
