Sunday Salon 6/29/14

Been a busy week of reading this week which is a good thing for me. I am ahead in my book challenge for once overall. I am disappointed with some of the books I read and happy with others. How vague of me right? Sorry dear readers just having one of those days.

I plan on getting more reading done this week with any luck though and hopefully they will be good solid enjoyable reads. I am currently working on a cozy mystery which is cute and involves critters always a win for me.

Sunday Salon 6/22/14

Sunday again here folks and I am a little bit bla so pardon if the post comes off as such. I have gotten some good reading done this week. Finished another Dresden book, finished when Girlfriends step up and some Sci Fi books. Yay for that. I have also started on the next Dresden book though only a few chapters in so far due to before mentioned Meh feeling.

In other news, the Final Season of True Blood starts tonight. I know many are wary of what is going on given how the last season ended.

All I can say is bring on the Viking.

Sunday Salon 6/8/14

Been working on catching up on some reading this week and Sunday is going to shape up to be some more of that. I also have a 3,000 word book to ghost write. I am a bit nervous about it but I think I will do okay with that.

I finished Blood Rites in the Dresden series and it nearly gave me a heart attack, my review for the book will be up soon. Next I have been working on the book I started a few weeks ago all my love deterick sadly my kindle crudded out on me while I was really enjoying it. Not so very fun on that one reason I still love my regular books! It is all charged up though and I may spend some time reading it again.

I also started the next in the Harry Dresden book. Love Dresden. I really do love Harry. Truly.

Sunday Salon 6/1/14

Happy June to everyone. Wow is it really June already? Hard to fathom the year is now half over. I am behind on my reading. Sadly Sadly, I have done little of it this week, but I do plan at some point to get back on the horse and catch up. It is not books the book’s fault, just all the other projects I have going on.

Not only that but this last week I have been sicker then a dog. All I do is cough cough cough and feel like a hoarse smoky ick ball. It will pass and then hopefully I will get back into things. I am enjoying With all my love Deterick but I just can’t seem to keep focused. Not the books fault. May be time to visit my favorite wizard again, he always manages to get me into the book!

Sunday Salon 5/18/14

This week I am just going to do some quotes, from Tom Hiddleston. I think it is a nice way to start a Sunday.

I grew up watching ‘Superman.’ As a child, when I first learned to dive into a swimming pool, I wasn’t diving, I was flying, like Superman. I used to dream of rescuing a girl I had a crush on from a playground bully.

Ancient societies had anthropomorphic gods: a huge pantheon expanding into centuries of dynastic drama; fathers and sons, martyred heroes, star-crossed lovers, the deaths of kings – stories that taught us of the danger of hubris and the primacy of humility.

Haters never win. I just think that’s true about life, because negative energy always costs in the end.

Showing young children in these communities, that there are outlets for their feelings, that there is room in a space for their stories to be told, and that they will be applauded – and it’s not about ego, it’s about connection: that their pain is everybody else’s pain.

My father and I used to tussle about me becoming an actor. He’s from strong, Presbyterian Scottish working-class stock, and he used to sit me down and say, ‘You know, 99 percent of actors are out of work. You’ve been educated, so why do you want to spend your life pretending to be someone else when you could be your own man?’

I don’t think anyone, until their soul leaves their body, is past the point of no return.

For myself, for a long time… maybe I felt inauthentic or something, I felt like my voice wasn’t worth hearing, and I think everyone’s voice is worth hearing. So if you’ve got something to say, say it from the rooftops.

I was so lucky because what I did in ‘Thor’ was I built the character from the ground up – the foundations of his spirit, really. He was someone who was born with an expectation that he would one day be a king, born with an entitlement.

Artists instinctively want to reflect humanity, their own and each other’s, in all its intermittent virtue and vitality, frailty and fallibility.

I always found the extraordinary loss of life in the First World War very moving. I remember learning about it as a very young child, as an eight- or nine-year-old, asking my teachers what poppies were for. Every year the teachers would suddenly wear these red paper flowers in their lapels, and I would say ‘What does that mean?’

I’m an eternal realist and the success rate for being an actor is pretty low.

If you are at a boys’ school, especially, there is a level of bravado that you have to keep up otherwise you’ll get picked on.

Since my education, I’ve done quite untraditional things. There are very few Etonians who went to Rada. And far fewer Etonians – certainly when I was there – went to Cambridge. I don’t know whether it’s the same now. Most people I knew went to Oxford, because it seemed more of an easy bridge.

Sunday Salon 4/27/14

Another Sunday and another Sunday Salon, I am catching up on reviews slowly but surely and for the first time in a while I am on track with my reading goal *makes yay hands*. This last week was a stressful one so overall I did not get much reading done but since I am feeling on track it’s okay overall.

This week we will be going into May and we will be hitting Beltane! Who is with me on hoping things go well for Beltane! We will also be gearing up to show some love and support for Lupus awarness and hope that a cure is found. I will be posting a cover reveal on May 1st that I hope everyone will take a look at and do what you can to help!

Other then that, this weeks Sunday Salon is going to be short. I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday and keep reading!
